Morse Force Announces Dates for Second Sunday Open House

The signs of spring are growing across the Morse Wildlife Preserve. In the prairie, the swallows have returned and have quickly begun to choose nest boxes and forage above the fields. Camas leaves and other plants are sprouting.

Spring has arrived at the Morse Wildlife Preserve, and we’re excited to welcome you back. Join us for our first open day on Sunday April 12th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM!  The preserve begins it’s monthly open house–come visit and see for yourself the signs of spring.

In the wet forest, skunk cabbage are reaching their peak, false lily of the valley is carpeting the ground, and osoberry and salmonberry are flowering.

Hummingbirds and warblers are returning to the woods to feed on the growth of insects and flowers. And the wetland is coming alive with the songs of Marsh Wrens, Virginia Rails, the return of Common Yellowthroats, and a chorus of frogs
