Lykins Leads List of Endorsements for County Council

Brenda Lykins is running for Pierce County Council District 7. She seeks to fill an open seat after Robyn Denson decided not to seek a second term. Brenda and Robyn are close friends, and both served on Gig Harbor City Council together before Brenda moved to North Tacoma recently.

Brenda would serve the two halves of the 7th district as it straddles both sides of the Narrows Bridge. With Robyn’s support and many major endorsements already favoring Brenda, and no other Democrats is running for the seat, the outlook for a big election win is very encouraging.

Republican Chuck West on the Peninsula School Board is running for the seat again. He lost in the primary the last go-around in 2022. Controversial former Seattle police officer Mike Solan has also jumped into the race. Neither candidate would be proactive when it comes to addressing our most pressing environmental issues.

We had a wonderful chat with Brenda at a local coffee shop recently. She was both knowledgeable and engaged on growth management, shoreline issues, and water supply concerns. She is firmly supportive of conserving forests, farms and waterways as a top priority for the county council.

Brenda currently serves on the Charter Review Commission for District 7. She’s an experienced Nurse Practitioner who has worked for Mary Bridge, Seattle Childrens’, and now UW Medicine. She has a strong public health perspective and is well informed on environmental issues–a potent policy mix for someone who will serve on Pierce County Council.

As you can see, she’s already endorsed by several elected officials, and for good reason. Look for yourself on Brenda’s website: https://www.electbrendalykins.com/ Donate to her campaign to help provide the resources needed to win big in the August primary and beyond. Volunteer as you are able.

Vote Brenda Lykins for Pierce County Council District 7!
