Local Organizers report on July 17 Rally in Tacoma.
“The Good Trouble Rally on July 17 in honor of John Lewis was wonderful,” said Beverly Smaby. ” It was smaller than the others we’ve had, and it was blistering hot, but the organizers had a good tent that provided information, poster-making materials, and soothing cold water.”
“The participants and sympathizers in cars shared signs and greeted us with cheers.” Smaby is one of the local organizer who encouraged people to gather at the entrance to Point Defiance in July.
“Continuing these protests is definitely the way to go — it shows that we’re not going away. We’re keeping up-to-date on important national issues and sharing what we’ve learned with our family, friends, and neighbors — even those who support Trump — is the way to go, too.
“We have to keep communicating with people of all persuasions. That’s how we remind each other that we all care about our country and each other, and that, in the end, we are all in this together.”
