Morse Bluebirds Raise Six Young
The Preserve hosted another breeding pair this year, and at the end of July, the pair successfully raised six healthy nestlings that all fledged.
It’s wonderful to see another year of successful nesting, and an encouraging sign for the future of our local population.
This video captures the moment one of the bluebirds fledged the nest, with encouragement from its mother.
Thanks to the small but mighty group of volunteers that helped extract a selection of camas bulbs in July! These bulbs are dug up once the plant fully seeds and in the fall will be planted in other areas of the prairie to help spread the population.

This Willow Flycatcher was spotted near the edge of the prairie, near the wetland.

Forterra Nature Discovery Event: Birding for All
Sign up for a bird walk on August 15th, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm with skilled naturalist Eileen Lambert.
Forterra owns and stewards the Morse Wildlife Preserve, collaborating with Morse Force volunteers for land management and maintenance.
