Help us
create a countywide trail system
_________________________________________________________________________________ To
get right to the
point, ForeverGreen Trails – note the name change -- is seeking your
financial
support. We’ve got an exciting new opportunity to take trail advocacy
in
New Partners: We are joining with
like-minded individuals and groups to form an Active Transportation
Community
of Interest (COI )as part of the Russell Family Foundation’s 10-year,
$10
million Puyallup River Watershed Initiative.
What would this mean
for our trails? For the first time we could
have a true county-wide coalition of advocates working for an active
transportation network stretching from Mount Rainier to Puget Sound. We could lay groundwork for a sustained
effort to educate the public and elected officials about the benefits
of an
integrated system of trails, bike lanes and local pathways – and the
need to
fund it.
Let's stop talking about a trail network.
We want to get it built. We
must work together. Foundation staff has
helped us develop the
grant proposal. A formal decision is due this summer. If it’s a
“go” the COI will hire a community
organizer/planner to implement a first-year work plan. Depending on
yearly
progress, the COI could be funded annually for up to 10 years.
Our goal is $6,000. Every dollar you donate will
be matched up to
$3,000. We will put your donation to work supporting our partners and
continuing our local advocacy efforts, including our annual trail
conference.
Please make your donation on line. It’s for a great cause. ______________________________________________________ Please
