Mr. Capener works primarily in oils, painting landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and his travels abroad, as well as florals, occasional portraits, and western scenes. He has worked with various well-known artists over the past 30 years, but is essentially self-taught.
He has been selected for numerous awards at various art shows in the Northwest, including “Best of Show” at the Celebration of Western Art Show in 1995. Mr. Capener was selected to show his work at the Western Regional Oil Painter’s of America Show in 2004. He was also selected for a one-man show at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge Visitor’s Center in 2003 and 2004.
His work has been displayed at several galleries in the Puget Sound area as well as in Albuquerque, and Taos, New Mexico where he lived and painted for three years. He is currently represented by Childhood’s End Gallery in Olympia, Washington, as well as at the Watermark in Tacoma, Washington.
